All guides are certified in Standard First Aid/CPR and each trip is equipped with a waterproof first aid kit. Each guide is put through a rigorous training program that requires a minimum of 15 to 20 trips down the river before even qualifying to run a commercial trip. Before each trip, everyone is given a 20 minute safety talk. This is to better prepare you and your family for a safe and enjoyable river experience. Our reputation for safety is one of the highest in the southeast. Just bring a change of clothes and get ready to get wet! The Smoky Mountain Outdoors rafting pros will provide all the equipment you need. We recommend that you wear tennis shoes (or sandals with a heel strap), shorts, and a t-shirt or bathing suit. NO FLIP-FLOPS! Shoes must be secured to your feet. When you arrive, after signing a liability waiver, we will brief you on rafting safety then your white water adventure will begin with our experienced guides down the Pigeon River.
